DART Flexible Sampling Options

Unlike most ionisation techniques, DART requires no sample preparation and spectra are obtained from untreated samples. Tablets, TLC plates, packaging and foodstuffs are just a few examples we have analysed directly. To accomodate the many different sample shapes and states, Ionsense have developed a range of sample holders which are easily attached to the motorised rail to simplify and automate analysis. Videos of some the different sample holders currently available are shown below.

Liquid Analysis

• Simply dip the capillary into the liquid to be analysed
• Insert the capillary into the spring mounted holder
• The sample is in the optimum position in front of the ion beam
• Spectra are produced instantaneously
• Sample and reference can be run simultaneously for accurate mass measurement

Multiple Liquid Sample Analysis

• Up to 12 samples can be positioned in the holder
• Spacing of samples allows sampling from multi-well plates
• The motorised rail moves automatically from one sample to the next
• 12 samples can be analysed in less than 1 minute

Automated surface sampling

• Surfaces can be swabbed with polyethylene sponges
• The discs can be place in the holder
• The sample is in the optimum position in front of the ion beam for transmission DART
• Spectra are produced instantaneously
• Sample and reference can be run simultaneously for accurate mass measurement
• This technique has been used for swabbing the skins of fruit to identify pesticide residues

Tablet analysis

• Holds multiple tablets, large or small
• Motorised rail moves automatically to the next tablet
• Vary the gas temperature to do thermal stability studies

Adjustable Tweezers

• Spring-loaded grip for irregularly-shaped objects
• Ideal for plant material including leaves, grains, nuts and many others
• Analyse finished food products such as crisps/chips
• Simplifies forensic analysis of clothing or other material

Thin Layer Chromatography(TLC) plate holder

• Spring-loaded plate holder simplifies changing plates
• Motorised rail moves TLC plate across ionising-beam at a user-determined rate
• Suitable for both Prep and Analytical plates
• Can hold microscope slides and many other flat samples
